UI and UX optimization

Visitors are arriving. Not enough of them are getting in touch. We fix that.

UI and UX optimization is the work between a rebuild and doing nothing. We find where people get stuck on your current site, fix the pages and journeys that matter, and measure the difference. You get a written plan with a fixed price, one project lead, and changes made on the site you already have.

What you get

Everything included in a UI and UX optimization project.

Optimization is a measured process, not a list of opinions. This is what your quote covers, from the first look at your data to the numbers after the changes go live.

A usability audit of the real site

We go through your site the way a first-time visitor does, on a phone and a laptop, and write down every place they hesitate, get lost or give up.

Analytics, heatmaps and recordings

We read your Analytics, and add heatmaps and session recordings where you allow it, so the plan is based on what visitors do, not what anyone assumes.

A prioritized fix list

Every finding scored by how much it costs you and how hard it is to fix, so the work starts with the changes that pay back fastest.

Clearer paths and calls to action

Navigation, page layout, buttons and wording reworked so the next step is obvious on every page, especially on phones.

Shorter forms and checkouts

Fewer fields, better error messages, progress you can see, and the reassurance people need right before they hit submit or pay.

Speed and mobile fixes

Slow pages and cramped mobile layouts lose people before they read a word. We fix the worst offenders as part of the same work.

Accessibility built in

Contrast, text size, keyboard use and screen-reader labels checked against WCAG guidelines, which helps every visitor, not only those who need it.

Before and after, measured

Goals set up in Analytics before we change anything, then a plain report a few weeks after launch showing what moved.

Works with your current site

The changes are made on the site you have, whatever it is built on, with no downtime. If the audit shows a rebuild would serve you better, we say so before you spend anything.

Not sure what is losing you customers?

Tell Ella where visitors get stuck. Ella will suggest what to fix first.

Six quick questions about your site, your visitors and what they should be doing. You get a plain-words list of the pages and fixes to start with, and a project lead can turn it into a written quote. Two minutes, no jargon, no obligation.

Ella is automated and can make mistakes. Your written quote from a project lead is the final word.

How it works

From audit to measured results in four steps.

A typical optimization project takes three to six weeks including two to three weeks of measuring after the changes go live. Your quote shows the real dates.

01

Audit and written quote

We review the site, your Analytics and what visitors are supposed to do, then talk it through with you. You get a findings summary and a proposal with a fixed price for the fixes worth making.

Week 1

02

Set the baseline

Goals and events are set up in Analytics, and heatmaps and recordings run for a week or two, so there is a clear before picture to compare against.

Week 1 to 2

03

Design the fixes and review them

Revised layouts for the pages on the list, reviewed with you on a phone and a laptop, then built on a private staging copy so nothing changes on the live site until you approve it.

Week 2 to 4

04

Go live, measure, report

The changes go live with no downtime. A few weeks later you get a plain report comparing before and after, with the next round of fixes if there is one worth doing.

Week 4 to 6

The numbers behind the enquiries

What is your website doing when nobody is watching?

Most owners know their traffic. Few know how many visitors ever reach the call to action, how many give up inside the form, or how often someone taps a thing that does nothing. These are the numbers we pull from a site before changing anything. The figures below are an illustrative example of a typical service business site, not a promise. Yours will differ, and the audit finds out by how much.

Three numbers most sites never look at, example site before fixes

41%

Reach the call to action

Visitors who scroll far enough to see it

32%

Finish the form

Of the people who start it

6

Rage clicks

Per 100 sessions, taps on things that do nothing

Each one is measured, not guessed. Scroll depth and form completion come from analytics events, rage clicks from session recordings. Together they tell us whether the problem is the page, the form or the button nobody reaches.

Where visitors drop off on a typical quote page

Land on the page100%
Scroll to the form58%
Start the form31%
Send it12%

A hundred people land, fifty-eight scroll far enough to see the form, thirty-one start it and twelve send it. Every step is a place to lose or keep a customer, and every step can be measured on your own site.

Three months of baseline first, so the change can be shown against something real. The fixes go live in month three and the same measurement continues. Movement like this is typical when a form is shortened and the call to action is brought into view, not guaranteed.

What we measure, and the tool for each

HeatmapsClicksWhere people click, where they try to click on things that are not links, and what they never see
RecordingsHesitationSession replays show the pause before a form, the back-and-forth, the scroll past the button
Form analyticsDrop-offWhich field loses people, how long each takes, and where errors appear
Core Web VitalsResponseINP measures whether a tap answers within 200 ms, CLS whether the page jumps under the thumb
AccessibilityReachContrast ratios, 44 px tap targets, keyboard paths and labels, checked with real tools
Before and afterProofThe same numbers measured again once fixes are live, so the change is shown, not assumed

No redesign, no opinions. The tools say where visitors get stuck, the fixes are made on the site you already have, and the same tools say whether it worked.

What it costs

A fixed price for a defined list of fixes.

We do not publish a single price because fixing one checkout and reworking a forty-page site are different jobs. What we do promise is a written quote after the audit, tied to a list of specific changes, and the number does not change unless you add to the list.

What moves the price

How many pages and journeys are on the list, whether the fixes are layout and copy or need new features, what the site is built on, and how much measuring you want afterwards.

Payment plans up to 24 months

Pay by milestone, or spread the cost over up to 24 months. Credit and debit cards and bank transfer are both fine.

Tools included

Heatmap and recording tools used during the project are included in your quote. If the site is hosted with us, ongoing care plans are optional, with fixed monthly prices.

Questions

What owners ask before optimizing.

If yours is not here, the full list is one click away, or just pick up the phone.

Still have a question?

Call us on a weekday, or send a note and we will get back to you within one business day.

Do I need UI and UX optimization, or a full redesign?

If the site is reasonably current and gets traffic, optimization is usually the better first step. It costs less, disrupts less, and you keep what works. If the site is very dated, slow on phones or built on a platform you want to leave, a redesign fixes more at once. The audit tells us which, and we say so plainly.

What do you need from me for a UI and UX optimization project?

Access to Google Analytics if you have it, permission to run heatmaps and recordings for a couple of weeks, and about an hour of your time to tell us who your visitors are and what a good enquiry looks like. If you have no analytics yet, we set it up as the first step.

Will UI and UX changes affect my Google rankings?

UI and UX changes should not hurt your Google rankings, and they often help. Optimization works on how the page looks and behaves, such as layout, buttons, forms, menus and loading speed. Page addresses, titles, headings and the written content that Google ranks stay as they are unless we agree a change with you. Google also measures page experience, including loading speed, mobile usability and layout stability, so fixing those usually supports the rankings you already have. Every change is checked on a staging copy first, and we watch Search Console after it goes live.

Can you optimize a website you did not build?

Yes, we optimize websites we did not build. Most optimization projects are on sites built by someone else, on WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace and others. We need editor access and a staging copy where the platform allows one. If the platform makes the fixes impossible, we tell you before quoting.
