Findings, most costly first
Finding
Google reports 117 KB of CSS loaded on the home page that the page never uses, so every visitor downloads styles for pages they are not on.
Why it matters
Unused CSS delays the first paint on slow mobile connections and is the single largest performance opportunity Google flags on the site.
What to do
Split the stylesheet so each page loads only the rules it needs, and defer the rest until after the first screen has drawn. Something you can hand to any developer.
Search terms worth going after first
- custom web development for small businesses
- website redesign services
- SEO agency Vancouver

What the audit checks
Eight things the audit looks at.
The same checks we run on our own site, read by a person and written up in order of what costs you the most. Each one comes back as a finding, why it matters and what to do.
Crawling and indexing
Whether Google can reach every page. Robots rules, the XML sitemap, canonical tags, redirects and broken links.
Titles and descriptions
Every page gets a unique title and description of the right length, with the search term people actually use.
Headings and content
One clear H1 per page, headings in order, enough real content on each service page, and no two pages competing for the same search.
Speed and Core Web Vitals
Google PageSpeed on mobile and desktop, with the loading, stability and responsiveness figures and the biggest thing slowing the page.
Mobile experience
Viewport, tap targets, text size and layout on a phone, where most local searches now happen.
Images
Missing alt text, oversized files, modern formats and lazy loading, which together decide how fast pages feel.
Schema and social previews
Structured data for your business, services and FAQs, plus the Open Graph tags that control how links look when shared.
Local search
Google Business Profile, name, address and phone consistency, and the local terms a Vancouver or Canada-wide business should own.
Questions
What people ask about the free SEO audit.
If yours is not here, the full list is one click away, or just pick up the phone.
Still have a question?
Call us on a weekday, or send a note and we will get back to you within one business day.
Is the free SEO audit really free?
Yes, the free SEO audit costs nothing and carries no obligation. You can use the report to fix the site yourself, hand it to your own developer, or ask us for a quote.
Why does WebCrafters offer a free SEO audit?
We offer the audit free because it shows the quality of our work before you pay for anything. Some people who receive a report later hire us for SEO, and many do not. Either way the report is yours.
How long does the free SEO audit take?
The report arrives by email within 1 to 5 business days, depending on the size of the site and how many requests are ahead of yours.
What does the free SEO audit check?
The audit covers crawling and indexing, page titles and descriptions, headings and content, speed and Core Web Vitals, the mobile experience, images, schema and social previews, and local search. Each finding is written with why it matters and what to do about it.
Is the SEO audit an automated report?
No, a person on our team reviews the site and writes the findings. We use tools to collect data, as every SEO does, but the priorities and the plain-words explanation come from someone who looked at your site and your market. That is why it takes days and not seconds.
Do you need access to my website or Google account for the audit?
No, the audit is done from the outside, using what Google and any visitor can see. If you later want a deeper review, access to Search Console and Analytics helps, and we will ask then.
Does the free SEO audit work for Shopify, Wix or Squarespace sites?
Yes, the audit works on any website, including WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace and custom-built sites, because it looks at what the site shows to Google rather than how it was built. Some fixes depend on what the platform allows, and the report says so where it matters.
Do I have to hire WebCrafters after the audit?
No, there is no obligation and no sales call. The report is yours to act on, with your own developer or by yourself. If you would like a quote for the work, you can ask for one in writing.
Will the audit get my website to the top of Google?
No audit can, and nobody can honestly promise a ranking. The audit tells you what is holding the site back and what to fix first. Results come from doing that work over time.
I already work with an SEO company. Is the audit still useful?
Yes, the audit gives you an independent second opinion. It shows what an outside reviewer sees today, so you can check it against the work being done and ask better questions.
